This year, the conference was held at an old western town about an hour and a half from my house. This place is very close to my heart, because I helped build it. I stayed with the builders for a month several years ago and helped to consruct it. Pretty cool, I know, try to calm down.
This is a picture of part of the town.
As you can see, it's pretty cool. There's a diner, a bank, a hotel, a jail, and the undertaker's. All delightfully old-fashioned looking.
My favorite is the jail.
Because, well, obviously, it's really cool!
It's got jail outfits and all sorts of other costumes and props. Unfortunately though, the cell doors do not lock.
This year, our conference was about being....
This year was even better than usual, because they added in a few other elements. Instead of just having speaker after speaker after speaker, they had people give testimonies, and sing songs, and they also had pannels.
This is what I mean by a pannel. They had three altogether, two of older women, and one of younger women. Basically, we got to ask the pannel whatever we wanted, and they had questions pre-selected to answer as well. Most of the question were like, "What do you do when the kids are driving you crazy and you want to be a good example?" and stuff like that, which didn't really apply to me, because well, I don't have any kids. I'm about as close as you can get though without really being a mom. (I have two five year old sisters) Anyway, it was very interesting.
This year, during free time, (during which I usually sleep) they had crafts. Even though I am probably the most, hmm, let's say "artistically challenged" person you'll ever meet, I still made a few tiles.
Okay, the scary zebra thing on the bottom was my first attempt. Then, other people helped me make the other two. My favorite is the one on the bottom left.
So, that basically sums up my weekend. I'm having a hard time getting back into the blogging groove and remembering to take pictures, but it's slowly coming back. I hope your weekend was just as good!
